Public View

Public View (Widok Publiczny) is a joint project carried out by Krakow Festival Office and Bunker of Art Gallery, the aim of which is to develop new standards for activities in the field of new artistic practices, realised outside of the well-known and established formulas. The project envisions a series of meetings, workshops and open debates devoted to contemporary art in relation with city space. Among its basic principles are rooting the future realisations in local environments, creating stable and sustainable structures supporting artists, along with efficient methods and tools for communicating projects, often characterised by its dispersed and long-term character. “Public View” offers a perspective of ecology of institutional practices, which means reflecting on the development of stable and sustainable cultural policy, based on local resources, supporting not only creating new artistic works, but also taking care about the way of their realisation. Such approach emphasises not only the significance of art for the symbolic representation of diverse communities, but also its mediation potential.
